خلاصه داستان : چندین دوست قدیمی دانشگاهی در عمارت بزرگی با یکدیگر دیدار می کنند. یکی از اعضای گروه به نام تالبوت متوجه می شود که در این خانه ی قدیمی و تاریک برخی چیز ها اشتباه به نظر می رسند. اول از همه این که او چندین نفر را دیده است که تا پیش از این در زندگی اش با آن ها ملاقات نکرده بود و همچنین به نظر می رسد که همه ی آن ها از زمان و مکانی متفاوت آمده اند...

Several old college friends converge at a mansion, ostensibly for a pleasant reunion. Larry Dann, the most easygoing of the bunch, comes to the conclusion that all is not well in the old dark house. For one thing, he's run across several people whom he's never met. For another, they all seem to be of a different time and place.

Smiley must travel back through his life and murky workings of the Circus to unravel the net spun by his nemesis Karla 'The Sandman' of the KGB and reveal the identity of the mole before he disappears.
